january: this-is-parenting faces

January 1
Living Room
The New Year and the old tree. Ready to take them both on.

January 2
Garage Mahal
Stenciling with dad.

January 3
Donnelly House
Charlotte, NC
Wrapping up Christmas break with a trip south. Bedtime stories with Whitt and Asher and Auntie Tucker.

January 4
Donnelly House
Coloring and getting ready to sing Happy Birthday to Auntie Bonnie.

January 5
Independence Park
Beautiful sunny day perfect for a morning at the park.

January 6
Near Madison, VA
Andy had some time to play too and went to the mountains to hike, drink beer, and sleep in a yurt.

Donnelly House
The one picture together we managed to capture. Old friends are the best friends!

January 7
Edwin's Room
Richmond, VA
Also while we were away, Andy outfitted Edwin's big closet with shelves on shelves so I could Marie Kondo the sh*t out of kid toys/crafts.

January 8
Front Yard
Andy's beautiful bride (that's me) helping to get the Christmas tree out of the house.

January 9
Kitchen
Back at the preschool and dressing herself game.

January 10
Living Room
Tank top, sister's leggings, and story with dad. Perfect.

January 11
Station 15
I can't remember what the occasion, probably something with a kid and bathroom progress, but we got Sweet Frog and went to the fire station to celebrate.

January 12
Quilting Adventures
Straightening up the felt squares and fell in love with this color palatte. I will use it in a quilt one of these days!

January 13
Living Room
That Marie Kondo-ing I was talking about. I pulled out every single toy and have started categorizing and getting rid of. I thought I could get the kids to help by asking, "Does this bring you joy?" "Yes." "Yes." "Yes." Not helpful.

January 14
Sunroom
The breakfast of royalties: cereal.

January 15
Front Yard
Big day at the Smith house. Solar panels are finally being installed after months of waiting.

January 16
Schell House
Playing on the new indoor gym at Harry and Hazel's. My kids don't quite get how to use all the equipment yet.

January 17
The Hof Garden
Kids are at their Ducky and Bitner sleepover so that means...Date Night! Having a beer and trivia before our dinner reservation.

January 18
Edwin's Room
Andy went to pick up the kids at the river so here I go with stocking the closet. It doesn't look like I got rid of much. That's because I really didn't. (A few boxes.) But it's really about the organization, and that I did do to the max.

Closet ready to be filled.

Closet filled! And labelled! And not jam packed! (And still looks relatively neat 4 months later!)

January 19
Carytown
Straight from the river so these kids were ready to play. And they did. At a birthday party at Cartwheels and Coffee.

January 20
Garage Mahal
More shop time with dad. I love their little art sessions.

January 21
Kitchen
Everything about this one is the best.

January 22
Sunroom
Ready for rasta ballet.

January 23
Attic
Yahtzee in bed. This is what married with two kids looks like.

January 24
Front Yard
Getting ready for a tractor ride around the hood.

January 25
Cyborg Room
Christmas present delivery! Ashleigh made and felted a new pair of slippers for me!!! She's taking a picture of her handiwork.

January 26
LGBG
Unseasonably warm. But not tank top warm. This kid is looney. So is that giant pinecone. (Don't tell the parent police: he got a pretty good cold the next day. I tortured myself enough over that.)

January 27
Kitchen
When Leena naps she gets to stay up late, eat lollipops, and play Uno.

January 28
Woodward House
Four little monkeys in a hammock.

January 29
Phone
This is lame. I didn't take any pictures and maybe Andy did, but I saved some quilt inspirations.

January 30
Living Room
The novelty of watching a real TV! The first one we've had in this house (8+ years). We said we wouldn't leave it out all the time, but I'm typing this at the end of May and it hasn't budged from that spot. Oh well.

January 31
Mechanicsville
On the way to the Toyota dealership. Still 5 minutes away and these are our both-kids-said-they-have-to-poop-this-is-parenting faces. And boy did they. Luckily we made it to the toilets.
