worse than squirrels

September 1
CMoR
Always scary to see these two behind the wheel.

September 2
Great Wolf Lodge
We were gifted an overnight stay at Great Wolf Lodge. Leena took it very seriously. She rode the big kid water slides all by herself.

September 3
Front Yard
Stupid human tricks: toddler and dad edition.

September 4
Back Yard
Neighborhood Labor Day potluck. If we ever think about moving, this is the main reason not to.

September 5
Shop
Look at that form. Dad has taught her well. (I know little about tool-holding form. But the screwdriver is touching the screw so it must be right.)

September 6
Phoenix, AZ
Andy is at a cancer prevention symposium for firefighters for a couple days.

September 7
Camelback Mountain
Phoenix, AZ
He's taking advantage of sunrises and mountains with Peter. How romantic.

St. Matt's
Richmond, VA
Meanwhile, the kids and I are going to an open house at school so Leena can meet her new teachers and Edwin can see his classroom. We found his hook and a blue ball so he wouldn't look at me.

September 8
Driving Phoenix to Nogales, Mexico
Andy and Peter road tripping to visit college buds.

NYC
Kids and I getting restless at home so we (by we, I mean I) decided to road trip to New York to visit high school buds and post-college buds. Because when you're far apart, you might as well get farther.

September 9
Desjardin House
Nogales
A quiet game of chess is only possible when you're thousands of miles away from your kids.

Brooklyn
Taking a touristy photo and reminiscing about the old days when Jeta lived in DUMBO and nobody else did. (The kids are in the stroller facing the wall.)

September 10
San Xavier Mission
Tucson, AZ
You do you. Andy is spending Sunday morning in a beautiful historic church.

Prospect Park
I'm spending Sunday morning having bagels in the park with dear friends before the drive home. Both fulfill the soul.

September 11
St. Matt's
They held hands as they walked down the hall and it melted my heart. So thankful for smiling faces and an easy drop off on their first day!

Then they looked super cute playing outside in the afternoon.

September 12
Attic
Andy made a cheeseboard for a client. It's a relatively small project, but it's a great feeling to use the shop for it's intended purpose.

September 13
Carter Mountain
Annual apple picking with the Bott's on a beautiful fall day. We mostly do it for the rotten apple throwing contest and the donuts at the end. Fresh apples off the tree are also nice.

September 14
Lewis Ginter
Strolling through the garden like normal people.

September 15
Front Yard
I'd say she perfected getting the popsicle juice at the end over the summer.

September 16
Front Yard
An army of swallowtail caterpillars came to our garden this year. That's right, a group of caterpillars is called an army, not a fleet, which was my guess before googling.

September 17
VMFA
A little disappointed when we went inside to the kid area and it was completely re-done and geared toward older children. But the lawn/outdoor space at the art museum is also very entertaining.

September 18
Living Room
Cutest dinosaur drinking milk I ever saw.

September 19
Sunroom
If Edwin were a girl. Oh wait, his hair is just long and we have to get it out of his face at meal time.

September 20
Lewis Ginter
Talking to the fish and turtles.

September 21
Front Yard
Pretty fuzzy purple flowers in the flower bed. That's all I got.

September 22
Bryan Park
Celebrating five years of marriage with some family time. I think Leena's face captures how we all feel about it.

September 23
The Diamond
Street Art Festival. Why not paint cool murals at the baseball stadium?

September 24
Otter Cove
Kids and Andy having a river day and a cool boat ride.

Living Room
Mom having a craft day and making Edwin's Maui costume for Halloween. Yep, took all day to draw on this onesie with sharpie. I loved it.

September 25
Back Yard
Pretty much our afternoon routine when it's hot out: naked pool time for the kids, open a brewski for the mom.

September 26
Front Yard
We never got any tomatoes because the kids would pick them and eat them before we had a chance to stop them. Even when they were green. They are worse than squirrels.

September 27
Back Yard
Just checking on dad after nap/quiet time.

September 28
Across the Street
Playing with Charlie the dog.

September 29
Living Room
After bath animals.

September 30
Gallmeyer Farms
I love all the fall festivities: pumpkin patches, hay rides, mazes. It's my favorite season. (And then the holidays start and that's my new favorite season.)
